What does tile and grout cleaning include?
It covers the grout lines as well as the tile, indoors and outdoors. A cleaner is left to dwell in the grout, then agitated; indoors the water is extracted as we go with a sealed head so floors end up damp rather than wet, and outdoors a surface cleaner does the same job at a pressure matched to the tile. Edges, corners, step nosings and grout against skirtings are finished by hand, and you receive before-and-after photos plus notes on any loose or cracked grout.
Why does grout look dirty when the tiles are clean?
Grout is far more porous than glazed tile, so it absorbs mopping water, grease, soap and dirt. Mopping then moves that dirty water along the grout lines, which builds a film that home cleaning cannot lift. In bathrooms, laundries and shaded patios, held moisture also lets mould establish in the grout and silicone.
How often should tile and grout be professionally cleaned?
Most homes benefit every couple of years for main traffic areas, sooner for wet areas and outdoor tiled surfaces that stay shaded. Many people book when moving in or out, before selling, or once grout has gone visibly darker than the tile.
How is tile and grout cleaned professionally indoors?
Indoors the work is contained: mats down, light furniture moved, edges protected, then a cleaner is applied to the grout lines and left to dwell. The grout is agitated and the water extracted as it is cleaned, so nothing runs under cabinets or into adjoining rooms. Corners and perimeters are done by hand, and sealing is applied only if you approved it.
How much does tile and grout cleaning cost in Sydney?
It is priced by area from our published rate card, starting from $249 including GST, with typical jobs falling within $400–$640 (patio, pool surround or open-plan floor, ~80 m²). Floor or wall area, grout condition, tile type and whether furniture needs moving are what move the price. Your exact fixed price is confirmed in writing before we book.
Will my grout look brand new afterwards?
Grout comes back towards its original colour and the difference is usually obvious in the before-and-after photos. Grout that is permanently stained, worn through, or colour-sealed unevenly will not return to new. We say so before starting rather than after.
Do you re-grout or re-silicone as well?
No. We clean; we do not lay, repair or colour-seal grout, and we do not replace silicone. Where we find loose, cracked or missing grout we photograph it and leave it alone, because cleaning it harder opens the gap and lets water through. The photos are in your report so a tiler can quote from them.
Is the cleaning safe around pools, pets and children?
Outdoors we pre-wet plants and direct runoff away from garden beds and pool water as much as is practical. Indoors the water is extracted rather than left to spread. Keep pets and children off the area while we work and until the floor is dry; if we seal, we tell you how long to stay off it.
Is sealing the grout worth it?
On indoor floors and wet areas a penetrating sealer makes grout noticeably easier to keep clean and slows staining, so it is usually worth it after a deep clean. It is optional, priced per square metre, and never added without your approval.
Do you move furniture, and how long until I can walk on the floor?
We move light furniture and put it back; heavy, fragile or built-in items stay where they are and we clean around them, so tell us in the form if a room needs clearing first. Because the water is extracted, indoor floors are normally walkable within a couple of hours.
