Our gutter cleaning covers every gutter run on the house, cleared by hand and with a gutter vacuum, plus a water flush of each downpipe. Leaves and sludge are bagged and taken off site rather than blown into the garden. You receive labelled before-and-after photos, a video of each downpipe draining, and notes on anything we spot on the roof such as rust, slipped tiles or nests under solar panels.
Clean gutters carry roof water to the downpipes instead of letting it spill against fascias, eaves and walls. When they block, water can back up under the roof edge, and damp debris encourages rust, timber rot and pests. In bushfire season, dry leaves sitting in gutters can also catch embers.
For most Sydney homes, once or twice a year is enough. Homes under eucalypts, jacarandas or plane trees, or in bushfire-prone suburbs, usually need cleaning more often because leaves fall through the year or the fire risk is higher. Good times to book are after autumn leaf drop and in the lead-up to bushfire season, when NSW Government guidance is to clear gutters of debris.
A professional clean starts with safe roof access, using harnesses and anchor points where the roof calls for them. Each gutter run is then cleared by hand and with a gutter vacuum, and any gutter guard is opened up so the channel underneath can be cleaned before it is fixed back down. Finally, every downpipe is flushed and filmed at its outlet to confirm the water actually gets away.
Most homes fall within $390–$490 (single storey home), and our prices start from $390 including GST. The fixed price depends on the number of storeys, roof pitch and access, whether there is gutter guard to lift, and how much debris has built up. It is confirmed in writing before booking, and that is the price you pay.
Gutter cleaning is usually completed in a single visit, and the expected time is confirmed with your quote. The main factors are the number of storeys, roof pitch, total gutter length, any gutter guard that needs lifting and how full the gutters are. A downpipe that turns out to be blocked can add time while it is cleared.
On a low single-storey home with safe, level access some owners do it themselves, but two-storey, steep or tiled roofs are better left to a crew with fall protection. Falls from roofs and ladders cause serious injuries, and SafeWork NSW has published an incident report of a worker cleaning gutters who slid down a residential roof and fell. If you hire someone, ask for a fixed price, their safe work method, insurance certificates and proof that the downpipes run.
Yes, cleaning beneath gutter guard can be included, and its cost appears as its own line on your quote so there are no surprises on the day. Guard keeps out larger leaves, but fine silt and leaf fragments still settle in the channel below it. We open the guard up, clear underneath, photograph it and fix it back in place.
It is safe when the work is planned around the fall risk: our crews work in pairs on two-storey and steep roofs, with harnesses and anchor points where needed. Roof work with a fall risk of more than 2 metres is covered by a Safe Work Method Statement. If a section cannot be reached safely, we leave it, tell you, and note the reason in your report.
Blocked gutters overflow, and the water ends up where it shouldn’t: against fascias and walls, into the eaves, or back under the roof edge. Over time that can mean rotting fascia boards, rusting gutters, damp patches and garden beds washed out below. Heavy wet debris can also make gutters sag, and dry leaves add fuel right at the roof line in bushfire season.
Trimming branches that overhang the roof cuts down how much debris lands in the gutters in the first place. Metal gutter guard reduces leaf build-up, though it still needs periodic cleaning, and some plastic meshes are not suited to bushfire-prone areas.
