How much does gutter cleaning cost in Sydney?
Published Sydney prices for a gutter clean range from about $180 to over $800, depending on storeys, access and how full the gutters are. Here is what the figures say, and how to tell a fair quote from a cheap one.
The short answer: published prices for a standard single-storey gutter clean in Sydney mostly sit between about $200 and $500. Two-storey homes and hard-to-reach roofs cost more. The range is wide, and the cheapest quote is not always the cheapest job.
This guide pulls together the prices that are publicly published. It explains what moves the price and what a proper clean should include. It also lists the warning signs that come up again and again in customer reviews.

What the published figures say
Marketplace figures (Airtasker)
Airtasker publishes two useful sets of numbers. Oneflare's old price guides now redirect to Airtasker, so these are the same figures.
- Sydney marketplace prices: Airtasker's Sydney gutter cleaning page showed a low of $180, a median of $209 and a high of $260 for completed tasks (checked September 2026).
- National cost guide: Airtasker's gutter cleaning cost guide (updated 3 August 2026) gives $150 to $500 overall and lists Sydney at $200 to $400.
The same guide breaks prices down by storey:

Airtasker also reports seasonal averages. Spring was the highest at $300, and autumn was the lowest at $250. That fits what you would expect, because many people book before bushfire season.
Keep this in mind: marketplace prices often come from individuals doing small jobs. Airtasker itself says it is "up to 50% cheaper than franchise dealers". Treat these numbers as the budget end of the market. They are not a benchmark for an insured crew using proper fall protection.
Prices published by Sydney gutter businesses
Most Sydney gutter cleaners only say "free quote". A few publish numbers. These are the figures shown on their own websites in September 2026:

When you compare quotes, compare the total price you will actually pay, including GST. A price marked "+ GST" is 10% higher than it looks. Under the Australian Consumer Law, a business that shows a price to consumers should show the single total price, including GST.
What changes the price
- Storeys and roof pitch. A steep two-storey roof takes longer and needs more safety set-up than a low single-storey roof.
- Length of gutter and number of downpipes. A large home with many gutter runs and downpipes simply takes longer.
- How full the gutters are. Gutters left for years often hold packed mud, seedlings and even small plants.
- Tree cover. Gums, jacarandas and plane trees drop leaves, bark, flowers and seed pods for much of the year.
- Access. Examples include no side access, fragile old tiles, a steep block or a roof over a pool.
- Gutter guard. Guard has to be lifted or cleaned on top. This can add time.
- Solar panels. Panels near the gutter line can make access harder. Leaves and nests often collect under them.
- Waste. Check whether the price includes taking the debris away or leaving it bagged on site.
What a proper gutter clean should include
- Debris removed by hand, scoop or vacuum and bagged, not just blown off the roof.
- Every gutter run cleaned, including roof valleys and box gutters where you have them.
- Each downpipe flushed with water to check it drains freely.
- Mess cleaned up around the house, with windows and doors closed before work starts.
- Before-and-after photos, so you can see work you can't check yourself.
- A short note on anything worth watching, such as rust, loose brackets or cracked tiles. It should be reported, not pushed as an urgent repair.
Red flags from real customer reviews
Complaints on review sites such as ProductReview.com.au follow a clear pattern. Watch for these:
- Blower-only jobs. Reviewers describe crews "just blowing the leaves off with a little blower" and leaving gutters half done. A blower on its own can also push dust and leaves into open windows, gardens and pools.
- Fees added on the day. One reviewer got a $300 quote by email. On arrival there was an extra $100 "first visit" fee and then another $50. Ask for a written total before anyone climbs a ladder.
- No proof of work. You usually can't see your own gutters. If there are no photos, you have no way to check.
- Scare selling. Several reviews describe a gutter clean turning into a pushed roof repair quote, or a door-knocker claiming the roof was faulty. Get a second opinion before paying for repairs.
- No safety gear. One review describes a worker falling from a two-storey home with no safety gear in use. Read our guide on working at heights for the questions to ask.
- No invoice or business details. A real business gives you an ABN, a tax invoice and a way to contact them afterwards.
How often should gutters be cleaned?
No official rule covers every home. The biggest factor is the trees around you. This is our general rule of thumb, not an industry standard:

Is gutter guard worth it?
Gutter guard cuts down on cleaning, but it doesn't remove the need for it. Fine debris, dust and small leaves still build up, and leaves can sit on top of the mesh.
Airtasker's gutter guard cost guide gives $1,500 to $2,000, with a median of $1,750. Note that this guide was published in February 2023, so it is older. GutterFlow publishes $35 to $55 per metre supplied and installed. In bushfire-prone areas, the NSW Government specifically recommends metal gutter guards.
How to get a fair quote
- Ask for a written, fixed total price including GST.
- Ask what is included: valleys, downpipes, waste removal and photos.
- Ask for a current public liability insurance certificate.
- Ask how they prevent falls on your roof.
- Ask what happens if it rains on the day, and whether there is a cancellation fee.
