Why soft washing instead of pressure cleaning?
High pressure can wear the coating off concrete tiles, damage older terracotta and push water under the tiles. A soft wash uses a cleaning solution at low pressure to kill moss and lichen at the root, so it is gentler on older roofs.
Can you wash a slate roof?
Often, yes, but it depends on the slate's condition. We look at it first. If it is too fragile to walk safely, we will tell you and suggest another way, or decline the job.
Will the roof look clean straight away?
Loose dirt comes off on the day, but dead moss and lichen can take several weeks to break down and wash off in the rain. Your report shows the roof before and after, so you can compare.
